The Middle Thorofare Bridge is closed Sunday. The Wildwood Crest Police Department announced the bridge was closed late Sunday morning and may remain closed for an extended period of time. The bridge connects the south end of Wildwood Crest to Lower Township. Businesses on Ocean Drive are still accessible. County officials say the bridge experienced a total failure of the drive shaft motor, which is inoperable and irreparable.
