The news keeps getting worse for former Wildwood mayor Pete Byron. New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin announced Monday that Byron has been indicted on official misconduct and other charges. The allegation is Byron asked for a job from a city attorney and then failed to pay state taxes on those earnings for years. Byron has also been charged with tampering with public records. Platkin alleges Byron had used his office for personal financial gain and betrayed the public’s trust. The second degree charge of official misconduct can carry a prison term of five to ten years, if found guilty.
