Rainfall has become so infrequent in the Garden State that the NJDEP has adjusted their drought status to “warning”. Under the warning status, the DEP commissioner can urge the public to voluntarily use water sparingly. This status also allows the DEP to manage supplies of water in the most serious regions of the drought.
