A nineteen-year-old off-duty lifeguard is receiving recognition for rescuing an eleven-year-old girl from rough ocean currents at Cape May Point. Ryan Gibson had just finished his shift and was playing volleyball on August 12th when he spotted the child being pulled into the water. According to the Cape May Police Department, Gibson immediately entered the ocean and successfully executed the rescue.
