An offshore wind farm project has been approved by the federal government, which would be built between Atlantic City and Long Beach Island in New Jersey. Atlantic Shores, the company at the helm, says the turbines would be at least 12.8 miles away from the shore, slightly farther than the 8.7 miles given as the closest point by the federal government. The project still requires several permits and review by the US Army Corps of Engineers, according to 6abc.
