Spencer Spirit Holdings Expands Retail Empire with Hot Topic Acquisition

Egg Harbor Township-based Spencer Spirit Holdings has reached a $350 million agreement to acquire Hot Topic and its sister brands from private equity firm Sycamore Partners. The strategic move unites Hot Topic, BoxLunch, and Her Universe with Spencer’s and Spirit Halloween under a single corporate umbrella. Once finalized, this massive retail merger will expand the combined company’s footprint to more than 3,000 stores across North America.
