The Wetlands Institute in Cape May County will close its doors on September 7th to begin a major renovation aimed at combating rising sea levels. The “Reimagine the Wetlands” initiative will elevate the Salt Marsh Trail and revitalize the surrounding campus to better withstand increased flooding and environmental threats. The facility will maintain its regular daily hours through Labor Day before shutting down to address what institute officials describe as dramatic changes in flooding patterns over the last twenty years.
