A former Atlantic County pharmaceutical sales representative has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for orchestrating a massive $50 million prescription medication scam. Fifty-year-old William Hickman of Linwood was also ordered to pay nearly $51 million in restitution after previously pleading guilty to health care fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering. Court records show Hickman and his co-conspirators, which included several public employees, deliberately targeted state-funded health plans by securing unnecessary prescriptions for highly reimbursed compounded medications.
