Governor Mikie Sherrill announced Tuesday that her administration plans to build 20,000 additional housing units on state-owned land, doubling an existing development initiative. The effort expands upon New Jersey Transit’s Land Plan from last year, utilizing newly identified state properties to boost residential construction. According to a recently released Housing Strategy and Progress Report, 15 new sites have been located between Atlantic City and Jersey City, which could bring the state’s total number of new homes built to over 42,000.
