Increased coyote sightings along Wildwood’s back bay have prompted local police to issue safety warnings for residents with children and pets. With the animals reportedly digging under fences and venturing into yards, city officials are reminding the public that feeding wildlife may be drawing them in and can result in fines of up to $1,000. Local leaders hope the ongoing transformation of a nearby former landfill into a nature preserve will eventually encourage the coyotes to stay away from residential neighborhoods.
